Commercial Pilot written - course content

The FAA Commercial Pilot written examination contains 100 questions and has an allotted time of 3 hours.  The minimum passing grade is 70% and the written result is good for 24 months.

  • Regulations and Procedures
  • Basic aerodynamics and the principles of flight
  • Meteorology
  • Weight and Balance
  • Use of performance charts
  • Principles and functions of aircraft systems
  • Night and high-altitude operations
  • Use of air navigation facilities
  • Aeronautical decision making and judgment
